Green Card Process

A path to permanent residency in the U.S.—live, work, and build your future in a country of opportunity.

Understanding the Green Card Process

The U.S. Green Card provides permanent residency, enabling individuals to reside, work, and move freely within the U.S. Holders enjoy unlimited employment options, access to social security benefits, and the capability to sponsor family members. One can receive a Green Card through a variety of different means, including through employment, through family sponsorship, or through the Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery Program of the United States. After five years of permanent residency, those who hold a Green Card are eligible to submit an application for citizenship in the United States and are granted full civic rights, including the opportunity to vote.

Green Card holders are eligible to petition for naturalisation after five years.
